Bated Breath stands at Juddmonte Farm’s Banstead Manor Stud in Newmarket where his 2023 fee is advertised at £15,000. Retired to stud in 2017, Bated Breath has three crops of racing age and they include this season’s Group winning juvenile Juliet Sierra as well as Group winners Viadera, Gift List, Sacred Bridge, Makaloun, Tezzaray and Agiato.
He is currently firing at a rate of 10 per cent blacktype horses to runners !

This colt is by successful young sire Bated Breath, and he is the first foal out of winning Kingman mare Rhossili Down.
The colt’s second dam was a winning daughter of Exceed and Excel and is herself out of Group 2 placed mare Turning Leaf who went on to produce ten winners including the Group 3 winner Turning Light who in turn produced Listed winner Surrey Star.
Turning Leaf is also the grandam of multiple Group winner Noble Heidi who was crowned Champion 2YO filly in Germany in 2020. Further back this is the family of Group winners Tai Chi, Taraja, Thorin as well as the Listed winning Think Of Me.

A grandson of Danehill, Bated Breath’s best crop are yearlings in 2022 and they were well received at the yearling sales, selling for up to 600,000gns, having been conceived at a fee of £12,500.
The colt’s dam, Rhossili Down, is from the second crop of leading sire Kingman, who is also based at Banstead Manor Stud and has cemented himself as one of the leading sires in Europe having produced over 50 stakes winners from his first few crops including Classic winning milers Persian King and Fearless King. Rhossili Down herself was a winner and placed another six times from nine career starts.
